Bel-Air is coming!
Peacock‘s highly anticipated reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which is set to arrive sometime next year, just got its first teaser trailer on Tuesday (November 23).
The teaser focuses on the new “Will” (newcomer Jabari Banks) and is narrated by Will Smith.
Here’s a plot summary: Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved and culture-defining 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The series is based on Morgan Cooper’s viral fan film Bel-Air, which dropped in 2019 and lit the internet on fire. The series was picked up for two seasons.
The voiceover is a dramatic reading of the original theme song read by Will Smith, and Jabari is wearing Jordan’s as an homage to the sneakers Will wore in the OG series.
As Jabari sinks into the water, flashes of his old life in Philly float past him, including basketballs, a trophy and ATVs. The crown signifies a possibility of a new life.
The dice are the first items from his life in Bel-Air. Fun fact: in the original series, the cab had dice in the mirror (“The license plate said ‘Fresh’ and it had dice in the mirror.”)
