A bombshell report has revealed some surprising details about the 2022 Grammys nominations.
It has been reported that in the 24 hours leading up to the announcement of the nominations, the Recording Academy decided to expand the amount of nominees in the four top categories from eight to ten.
This move helped secure nominations for stars such as Taylor Swift and Kanye West. The report also reveals that the artists who were added to each category were in 9th and 10th place in the nominations process.

The Recording Academy’s CEO Harvey Mason Jr. has said that the move to 10 nominees was done to “make room for more music, more artists and more genres, and to embrace the spirit of inclusion.”
A report in the New York Times revealed that the expanded categories gave nominations to some of the biggest artists in the world.
The Times discovered which artists were last-minute additions because an early copy of the nominations list surfaced online ahead of the announcement. The outlet reports that Mason “said that the artists added to the list were simply the ninth and tenth most voted by the academy’s members, and were determined by Deloitte, the academy’s longtime partner in collecting and tabulating votes.”
