‘Saturday Night Live’ Pays Tribute to Late ‘Weekend Update’ Anchor Norm Macdonald During Season Premiere – Watch Now

Saturday Night Live took a moment to pay tribute to their late cast member Norm Macdonald during the season 47 premiere.

During the Weekend Update on Saturday (October 2), current hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che ended the segment by sharing some throwback clips of Norm from back when he hosted the segment.

“It’s a bittersweet night for us,” Colin said before presenting the clip. “Norm is the reason I ever wanted to do Weekend Update, so tonight we thought we’d turn the last few jokes of Update over to Norm.”

Norm passed away at 61-years-old back on September 14 after a private battle with cancer.

He served as the sole anchor of Weekend Update for three seasons during his time on SNL from 1993 to 1998.

During the 2021 Emmy Awards last month, SNL creator Lorne Michaels honored Norm while accepting the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
