Look Back at the Oscars Red Carpet from 15 Years Ago – So Much Has Changed!

It’s the day of the 2021 Oscars and we’re taking a look back at what the red carpet looked like 15 years ago.

So much has changed in Hollywood since the 2006 show – several fan-favorite couples have split up, some stars’ careers have had ups and downs, and we’ve sadly lost some beloved actors.

2006 was the year when Crash was the surprise Best Picture winner, beating out Brokeback Mountain for the top prize of the year.

Philip Seymour Hoffman, who tragically died in 2014, picked up the Best Actor award for Capote and Reese Witherspoon, who attended the show with then-husband Ryan Phillippe, won Best Actress for Walk the Line.

Best Supporting Actor went to George Clooney for Syriana and Best Supporting Actress went to Rachel Weisz for The Constant Gardener. She was at the show with her former partner Darren Aronofsky.

Some other former couples in attendance included nominees Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton. We tragically lost Heath less than two years later and he went on to win a posthumous Oscar in 2009.
