Miley Cyrus is opening up about her engagement and why now felt like the right time to share the news publicly!
The 33-year-old “Flowers” singer and her new fiancé, musician Maxx Morando, 27, stepped out at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere this week to promote Miley‘s lead song on the soundtrack and she told People about how the film’s themes connect to where she is in her life right now.

“The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,” she said, adding, “I think it’s also being older, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
Miley told People that the movie, which is “about love, family resilience” and “reconnection” felt “perfectly thematic and aligned” with this chapter of her life.
Although rumors have been swirling about the engagement since her ring began appearing in photos back in November, this is the first time Miley has publicly confirmed the news.
