Stranger Things fans take the show seriously, so you can always count on them to catch even the tiniest of errors.
The latest mistake stems from some discrepancies between an episode 4 flashback and what was discussed earlier in the show.

Volume 1 of the show’s fifth and final season was released last week. Keen-eyed viewers realized that Will’s (Noah Schnapp) flashback to building Castle Byers with his brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) as a kid in the season 5 episode “Sorcerer” doesn’t match how Jonathan previously described it, per Entertainment Weekly.
In season 5, Will remembers it was a beautiful day outside when he and his brother built the castle, but in season 2 episode “The Mindflayer” Jonathan says: “We stayed up all night building Castle Byers… just the way you drew it. And it took so long because you were so bad at hammering. You’d miss the nail every time.”
He goes on to say that it started raining and they got sick from being out in the bad weather but kept going anyway. “We just had to finish it, didn’t we? We just had to.”
Honestly, something like this could be chalked up to the way trauma impacts the memory, especially since it supposedly happened immediately after their father, Lonnie, left them.
Another error people have noted is in the season 5 episode “The Turnbow Trap” when Joyce (Winona Ryder) says Will was 11 years old when he was abducted and taken to the Upside Down. But the previous missing posters have said he was actually 12.
This calls back to an earlier continuity error when Will’s initial birthday, March 22, was left out during season 4 (making it seem like all his friends, and even his mom, had forgotten about him when the date rolls around!).
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer even admitted to forgetting it in an interview with Variety at the time, saying, “It was obviously a mistake, and we’re sorry. We apologize to the fans.”
They said they’ve considered doing a “George Lucas,” meaning going back to re-edit the original episode when Joyce says March 22, changing it to make her say “May 22″ instead, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Volume 2 will be released on Christmas Day (December 25).
