Nikki DeLoach is starring in Hallmark Channel‘s new movie A Grand Ole Opry Christmas and she has a touching connection to the story.
A Grand Ole Opry Christmas follows Nikki as the daughter of a late country music icon, who gave up her music career dreams after her father died in a tragic accident. 30 years later, she’s asked to represent him at the Opry’s centennial celebration and she gets magically transported back to 1995, where she gets to spend precious time with her father and reconnect with her musical side.
In real life, Nikki connected with her father over their love for the Grand Ole Opry while she was growing up, but they sadly never got to visit the Opry together.

While attending Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas launch event last month in Nashville, Nikki opened up about why it meant so much to make this movie.
“I’ll just share the story of why this meant so much. I grew up in the South and knew I wanted to be a performer when I was 4-years-old. My dad and I, music was our love language,” Nikki began. “We started listening to A Grand Ole Opry radio show when I was a little girl and he would drive me to and from my music lessons. We would listen to Vince Gill, Pam Tillis, and all the greats and he would say to me, ‘One day, if you work hard enough, you can be up on that stage.’ And I would say, ‘Dad, that’s for Dolly, that’s for Martina McBride, that’s never going to happen.’”
She added, “Well one of the places that I always wanted to go to with my dad, we were going to go together, was the Grand Ole Opry. And he got sick and passed away before we were able to go. So the fact that I got to come here and film a movie inside these walls and stand on that stage, it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.”
Nikki also told the crowd at the event why the fans mean so much to her.
“I hope you guys feel that when you watch the movie. Without you guys, we don’t have a network. So you are the reason, you are our why, every single movie we make. Thank you for your support and your love. You guys are the best audience in the world,” she said.
There are so many country music icons who are making cameo appearances in the movie!
