Less than 24 hours after it was reported that swastikas and nooses will no longer be classified as “hate symbols” in the United States Coast Guard, the military service is reversing their decision.
On Thursday (November 20), The Washington Post reported that the Coast Guard’s new policy would “classify the Nazi-era insignia as ‘potentially divisive’ under its new guidelines.” In addition, the policy “similarly downgrades the definition of nooses and the Confederate flag.”
After facing intense backlash, the U.S. Coast Guard issued a new memo hours later reclassifying swastikas and nooses as “hate symbols.”

Shortly after it was reported that swastikas and nooses were no longer considered “hate symbols,” Homeland Security downplayed the situation.
“Y’all are just making things up now. 💀” the official Homeland Security account wrote on X.
If you missed it, the White House Press Secretary recently addressed Donald Trump calling a reporter “piggy.”
