Jeff noted that his character does some “very cruel things” like instigating and facilitating animal cruelty along with persecuting munchkins and spreading propaganda about Elphaba. The animal cruelty aspect is a significant catalyst for both the Wizard and Elphaba’s arc in the movie.
“Working with Jon Chu [is] amazing. It’s changed me,” he told the hosts. “You know, after doing this movie, we talked about the animal cruelty, I stopped eating meat and poultry,” he told the hosts.
Then he joked about how this holiday season will be a little different for him since he won’t be eating turkey on Thanksgiving or Christmas.
“But I’m happy. We need the world to work for everybody on Earth and every creature, too,” Jeff concluded.
Wicked: For Good hits theaters on Thursday, November 20.
In case you missed it, original Wicked on Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth joined Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo onstage for a special performance during the Wicked: One Night Only special!
