Before the movie came out, it was expected to bring in $25 million, per THR.
It also brought in $40 million globally, for a total opening haul of $80 million.
This means the movie outperformed every Predator movie, including AVP: Alien vs. Predator, which debuted to $38.4 million in 2004, not adjusted for inflation. It’s the biggest global opening of the franchise after surpassing 2018’s Predator ($48.9 million) as well!
Here’s a synopsis: “Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, Badlands follows a young Predator outcast (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Elle Fanning) as he embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.”
