The new stadium is being built where the RFK Stadium operated for decades in Washington, D.C.

A senior White House source told ESPN there have been “back-channel communications with a member of the Commanders’ ownership group, led by Josh Harris, to express Trump‘s desire to have the domed stadium in the nation’s capital bear his name.”

“That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN.

The senior White House source also said: “It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen.”

A source for the team said that Trump will likely be attending the game against the Detroit Lions Sunday (November 9), where he’s expected to partake in a tribute to the military during halftime.

He’s also planning a new Washington D.C. monument that would cost a reported $100 million.
