Val Chmerkovskiy Responds to Brother Maks’ Negative Comments About ‘DWTS’ Pro Jan Ravnik

Val Chmerkovskiy was asked about the comments his brother Maks Chmerkovskiy said about fellow pro dancer Jan Ravnik.

If you don’t know, Jan is a new pro on DWTS this season, and Maks recently shared that he doesn’t think Jan should have been chosen to be a pro.

Now, Val is being asked about his brother’s comments.

“That’s my guy. That’s my best friend. I always got his back. You don’t have to like what he said. I don’t gotta agree with what he said. But I’m always going to stand up for him,” Val said to Access Hollywood.

If you missed it, Maks, a former DWTS pro, shared some critical commentary about Jan during an episode of The Penthouse with Peta, his wife Peta Murgatroyd’s podcast.

“He’s learning. He’s learning slowly. It’s his first season. We have to give him grace for not understanding foxtrot technique. It’s very hard to watch,” Peta shared on the episode.

Maks responded, “No, we do not have to give him grace. Are you kidding me?…I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars. There’s zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd.”

He went on to call Jan’s casting “a missed opportunity,” though he insisted he has nothing “against [Jan] whatsoever.”
