Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop & More Talk Possibility of New ‘Gilmore Girls’ Movie

In a new interview, stars like Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop opened up about the possibility of making another movie, following the Netflix mini-series nearly ten years ago.

“I’m always open to [returning and reprising Lorelai]. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t be,” Lauren told THR. “Of course, you always want to give people what they want and also make sure you’re honoring the legacy and not doing anything to mess it up. I’ve always said a Christmas movie seems like a way to revisit the characters. That wouldn’t have to be a full series and I think would make sense for dressing up the town and having a holiday-themed gathering. So that’s what I’ve been saying, but I’m not in charge.”

Kelly, who played Emily Gilmore, added that she’s also “open to it, but it would require the main players there again: Lauren, Alexis [Bledel] and certainly Amy [Sherman-Palladino]. I’m also wondering if it would be better as a movie, rather than trying to do four more episodes or something like that.”

Scott Patterson (Luke) shared that he doesn’t think the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life mini-series was the end of Gilmore Girls.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino addressed the cliffhanger that A Year in the Life ended on.

“The cliffhanger was intentional because the story was about history repeating itself and about mothers and daughters. It really to me was much less about who the boy was, but more about what the circumstance was. My thing was: Always focus on what the girls are doing, and what’s the story between the mother and the daughter because that’s what the show is,” she said.

Amy added, “I know people are very invested in them, and all the boys are extremely handsome and delightful to stare at, but honestly, the show is about the girls. If neither one of them had a boyfriend in six years, it still would have been fine. In my mind, I know who the father was and I know what the baby was, but that stays in my mind.”

If you missed it, Lauren has recently commented on whether she’ll be involved in the upcoming Gilmore Girls documentary that is in the works.

Earlier this year, Amy addressed the possibility of another revival or reboot.
