FX‘s Alien: Earth Season 1 comes to an end tonight (Tuesday, September 23) at 8 p.m. ET.
The FX series, which premiered on Disney+ and Hulu in August, has been one of the most ambitious entries yet in the long-running Alien franchise. With its mix of Xenomorph horror and original storylines set in the year 2120, fans are already wondering if a second season is on the way.

A description for the Season 1 finale cryptically teases that “a new power dynamic emerges.”
The show has not been officially renewed for a second season, but series creator Noah Hawley has recently addressed the show’s future.
“Season 1 is the proof of concept,” Noah explained to Variety of a potential second season.
“And if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.”
While FX has not officially renewed the series yet, he made clear the show was designed with multiple seasons in mind.
“Alien: Earth is designed to be a recurring series. I don’t know how many seasons that would be,” he said. “I believe that endings are what give a story meaning, so I have a sense of where I’m going with it.”
FX exec Gina Balian hinted at possibilities for the show’s next chapter, telling Variety, “There are a lot of places that could stand in for where the show could go next.”
In another interview, the show’s creator was asked if he knew what direction the show would go in for a potential Season 2.
“I do. I do. I mean, I think that I have a destination in mind story-wise, which allows me to know what the story is I’m telling, what it means. And I don’t know how long it takes to get there, but I do have a sense of where we go in success. And you know, the question becomes: how streamlined can we make the process so that you’re not waiting for three, or four, or five years for more?” he said.
It currently has a 95% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 70%. Stay tuned to see if the series gets the official greenlight for Season 2!
