Trump’s Autism Announcement Revealed: Claims Pregnant Women Shouldn’t Take Tylenol, But Experts Say Ties Are ‘Unproven’

While speaking on stage at Charlie Kirk‘s memorial over the weekend, President Donald Trump teased that he was about to announce “an answer to autism.”

Joined by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the White House on Monday (September 22), Trump claimed that using Tylenol during pregnancy “can be associated with a very increased risk of autism.”

The FDA will be recommending that doctors tell pregnant women to stop using acetaminophen, unless medically necessary.

“With Tylenol, don’t take it! Don’t take it,” Trump said. “And if you can’t live, if your fever is so bad, you have to take one, because there’s no alternative to that.”

“All pregnant women should talk to their doctors for more information about limiting the use of this medication while pregnant,” he added. “Ideally, you don’t take it all, but if you have to, if you can’t tough it out, if there’s a problem, you’re going to end up doing it.”

The Associated Press says that the administration is promoting “unproven ties between Tylenol, vaccines and autism without giving new evidence.”

Tylenol maker Kenvue released a statement on Sunday ahead of Trump‘s announcement.

“Acetaminophen is the safest pain reliever option for pregnant women as needed throughout their entire pregnancy,” the company said (via CNN). “Without it, women face dangerous choices: suffer through conditions like fever that are potentially harmful to both mom and baby or use riskier alternatives.”

The statement added, “The facts are that over a decade of rigorous research, endorsed by leading medical professionals and global health regulators, confirms there is no credible evidence linking acetaminophen to autism. We stand with the many public health and medical professionals who have reviewed this science and agree.”

A lip-reader has revealed what Trump was allegedly saying during a private moment at the memorial on Sunday.
