Almost exactly 10 years ago, Dua Lipa declared “I could be the one.”
On Wednesday night (September 17), during the first of four sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Dua proved that she very much indeed is the one.

The 30-year-old “Don’t Start Now” superstar brought her massively successful Radical Optimism Tour to the Big Apple, powering through a stellar performance full of glamorous pop star spectacle, sparkly ensembles from major fashion houses like Chanel and Balenciaga, fierce hair flips, confetti cannons and hits aplenty, reminding the audience just how many bangers Dua‘s got locked and loaded in her discography one decade into her career.
From “Training Season” all the way through to “Houdini,” Dua delivered her impressively sturdy live vocals through ample choreography across a giant bridge on stage and down the catwalk – and even levitating above a ring of flames at one point.
Midway through the show, she slowed things down and told the enthusiastic crowd that she’d been performing a cover by a local artist across her world tour.
While admitting she was nervous to take on the next track because of how much they inspired her career, a throwback video displayed on the screens of a young Dua singing Alicia Keys‘ “No One,” which she then powerfully launched into on the B-stage.
“We gotta do it together one day soon,” Alicia would later write on her Instagram Story after reposting a video of the cover, saying “I 😍😍😍 this.”
At several points during the night, Dua also interacted with the front rows of her sold-out crowd, taking plenty of selfies and having quick, quippy exchanges with elated fans before launching back into energetic mixes of smashes like “Levitating,” “Physical,” “One Kiss” and “New Rules.”
The triumphant two hour-long set flew by in the blink of an eye through to the start of her career, as she emotionally led the crowd through a singalong of her early debut album era track, “Be The One.” And after a quick change, she reemerged for a hits-heavy encore leading up to her Radical Optimism lead single, “Houdini.”
“Catch me or I go Houdini!” she declared. The stage went dark. And just like that, she was gone.
The tour continues through the rest of the weekend in New York City before moving on across the United States and beyond. Check out the set list and remaining tour dates inside…
