It’s official, another original Scrubs cast member is coming back for the upcoming ABC reboot!

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is returning to helm the reboot, which was officially ordered to series this past July. It is expected to premiere during the 2025-26 television season.

Zach Braff has already been confirmed to reprise his role as John “J.D.” Dorian, and now we know that another fan-favorite character will be back.

John C. McGinley is returning to the sitcom as J.D.’s cynical mentor, the attending doctor Dr. Perry Cox, Deadline confirms.

Along with Zach and John, it has also been confirmed that Donald Faison is back as Christopher Turk along with several other returning cast members.

The reboot returns us all to the fictional hospital Sacred Heart where we catch up with J.D. (Braff) and Turk (Faison) as they navigate the ever-changing and modernized world of healthcare. Scrubs originally debuted in 2001 on NBC where it ran for seven seasons, ending in 2008. Following NBC’s decision not to renew the sitcom, ABC picked it up for two additional seasons before canceling it again in 2010.
