Celebs Pay Tribute to Giorgio Armani After His Passing

The stars are mourning the late Giorgio Armani.

Several celebrities have begun speaking out on social media following the sad news of the Italian designer’s passing at the age of 91, which was announced on Thursday (September 5).

The iconic designer launched his brand in the ’90s, which became one of the biggest fashion houses in the world, outfitting hundreds of the most well-known stars, including actors, models and musicians.

Many of those stars, including fellow designers and prominent figures from Italy, have expressed their condolences online.

“The world lost a giant today. He made history and will be remembered forever,” wrote Versace designer Donatella Versace on Instagram.

Julia Roberts posted a photo alongside the late designer, writing: “A true friend. A Legend. 💔”

Italian TV presenter Simona Ventura said (in Italian) on X: “Giorgio, you are and will always be our KING. Thank you for making us feel proud to be ITALIAN!! I love you 🌹”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote on X (in Italian): “Giorgio Armani leaves us at 91 years old. With his elegance, sobriety, and creativity, he was able to bring luster to Italian fashion and inspire the entire world. An icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy. Thank you for everything.”

Diane Kruger wrote on Instagram: “Incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Giorgio Armani. One of the nicest people and mentors I was lucky enough to meet and work with ❤️ Thinking about Roberta and his family and everyone who worked with him ❤️”

Many celebs also commented on the official Armani Instagram announcement, including Gemma Chan, who wrote “Grazie” with a white heart emoji, while model Eva Herzigová wrote “Giorgio,” with a heart emoji and a prayer emoji.

“With great sadness I learn of the death of my friend Giorgio Armani. On behalf of my family, the Filmauro group and all of Napoli Football Club, I am close to his family members and to Leo Dell’Orco,” said film producer and Italian football club Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Italian football club Juventus, which recently partnered with Armani to design team wardrobe, said in Italian on X: “Juventus joins in the mourning for the passing of Giorgio Armani, a timeless icon of Italian elegance and style.”

“A great honour to have had the chance to meet and work with such an amazing person. You will be missed Giorgio,” racer Charles Leclerc wrote on his Instagram Story.
