Ozzy Osbourne’s Former Bandmate Recalls Details From His Private Funeral

Ozzy Osbourne’s former bandmate is opening up about the late rocker’s private funeral.

Robert Trujillo, the Metallica bassist who played in Ozzy’s solo band from 1996 to 2003, reflected on the intimate July 30 gathering in Birmingham, England, during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation on August 7, per Blabbermouth.

“It was a small group of people but it was very, very beautiful,” Robert shared. “It was very sad, but at the same time, some of the speeches were, as you could imagine, pretty funny. People sharing stories and all of a sudden there’s laughter, and ‘I remember this, I remember that.’ It felt like there was closure from this.”

Robert said the service, which was attended by Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Jack Osbourne, Aimee Osbourne, Louis Osbourne and more, even felt like Ozzy was “having fun” in spirit.

“It had been raining at the beginning of the service, and then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen,” he explained.

He recalled that when Kelly performed her dad’s 1991 hit “Mama, I’m Coming Home” on his acoustic guitar, “her lyrics flew… like the wind blew her lyrics away. It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her.”

Robert added that “the sun actually came out” when Ozzy’s former Black Sabbath bandmate, Geezer Butler, gave “his amazing eulogy.”

“I’m not kidding,” Robert said. “The sun actually came out, and then it was beautiful from that moment on. A very magical moment.”

Ozzy died on July 22 at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack. Find out what his final words about his fans were.
