Malcolm-Jamal Warner sadly passed away after a drowning accident while on vacation Sunday (July 20) off the coast of Costa Rica, and more details continue to come to light.
According to a new report, he was swimming with his 8-year-old daughter when he drowned.
Police told ABC News that surfers spotted the Cosby Show actor and his daughter struggling and dove in to help.

A surfer used his board to bring his daughter to safety and a volunteer lifeguard pulled the actor and another surfer to shore, where he was given 45 minutes of CPR, according to police.
Police then said an autopsy has been completed. The Forensic Pathology Department said that the autopsy confirmed Malcolm-Jamal Warner‘s cause of death, which was described as asphyxiation by submersion, and was accidental.
Both surfers survived, police also noted.
The drowning occured near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica, after they got caught by a rip current. He was 54 at the time of his passing.
