Andy Byron has left Astronomer amid his viral scandal.

On Thursday (July 17), Andy went viral when footage of himself and a woman who is reported to be another executive at Astronomer were spotted getting cozy at a Coldplay concert. When the two of them ducked out of the view of the camera, frontman Chris Martin joked that the two of them must be “having an affair or they’re just really shy.”

After being placed on leave from the tech company, Astronomer announced on Saturday (July 19) that Andy has resigned as CEO.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the statement continued. “The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI,” it went on. “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems.”

Andy‘s resignation comes after Astronomer also launched an investigation into the event.

Chris immediately showed regret for the situation after it happened, but the person who shared the original viral video has defended posting it.
