We’ve gotten to the bottom of Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy‘s now-viral Instagram exchange!

On Monday (June 30), the 38-year-old You actor took to Instagram to share a video of himself walking around New York City while singing his praises for the 35-year-old White Lotus actress after he and wife Domino Kirke watched her new Netflix series Sirens.

“Hot city! Hot city! So, ok I don’t normally do this but my wife and I just finished Sirens. Ok Sirens,” Penn said in the video. “Want to give her her flowers. Obviously there’s Julianne [Moore], there’s Kevin [Bacon], there’s Millie [Alcock], but there’s this Meghann Fahy, this newcomer this like refreshing, gawky, beauty – love it. Love you.”

The two then went back and forth in the comments that had fans talking!

“Oops haha. Gawky tho,” Meghann responded the quizzical-looking emoji.

“I meant it as a compliment!” Penn explained. “Long arms are so gorgeous but historically less featured.”

Meghann quickly replied back, “Chill on the body stuff.”

“Whoa I’ve obviously been very supportive and complimentary but this feels like a trap,” Penn wrote.

“There you go again with that trapping thing. Heard you did a lot of that on your show. I never watched it,” Meghann snarkily wrote back, referring to Penn playing a serial killer in You.

Well, now it seems as if the whole exchange was just some funny and sarcastic back and forth since it has just been announced that Penn and Meghann will be starring in new rom-com together!

The two will be starring in the new movie You Deserve Each Other, based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Hogle, The Hollywood Reporter announced.

Here’s the synopsis: “Described as a lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers rom-com, Each Other follows Naomi and Nick, a couple who are about to get married and live happily ever after except for one thing: they’ve fallen completely out of love. With the wedding rapidly approaching and its pressure mounting, they both resolve to secretly push the other into calling off the wedding using all means at their disposal – pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare. (Don’t worry, they fall back in love along the way.)”

The movie will be directed by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, who served as writers on the hit rom-coms Never Been Kissed and He’s Just Not That Into You.

If you missed it, Meghann recently shared some rare comments about her boyfriend Leo Woodall.
