Jenna Bush Hager is weighing in on Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez‘s wedding.

On the Thursday episode (June 26) of Today with Jenna & Friends, she and her guest co-host, Maria Shriver, addressed the duo’s star-studded nuptials in Venice, Italy.

Jenna noted that they weren’t invited to the wedding, but that they “shouldn’t feel bad” about not making it on the guest list to the “very exclusive” event.

And although she feels all the A-list stars will “have fun,” she wouldn’t if she were there, per People.

“I think it’s really interesting because it’s a very public, everybody’s talking about it. It’s very public. There’s protests in Venice, which I personally would hate,” she admitted.

There have been ongoing protests in Venice against the wedding amid growing frustrations surrounding overtourism. Signs and posters with slogans like “No Space for Bezos” and “If you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax” have been placed around the city. Protestors even pushed a dummy dressed in a blue Amazon worker’s jumpsuit holding onto an Amazon box into the Venice canal.

Jenna recalled being “so worried about people finding out where [she] was getting married” that she couldn’t imagine dealing will all of these protests. She tied the knot with Henry Chase Hager on May 10, 2008, in her parents’ backyard in Crawford, Texas, “where nobody could be except for the people we loved.”

“My friends were staying in another tiny town and I was thrilled with that, that there could be some privacy around my marriage,” she said. “So I feel a little badly, though it seems they want it.”

“They wanted that, right, to go to Venice,” Maria agreed. “I hope that people focus on the fact that they’re in love.”

Maria noted that her daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, was “hyper concerned about the privacy” for her wedding to Chris Pratt.

“She wanted it really private. She wanted it to be small and intimate and to be really aware of everybody who was there, know everybody who was there,” she said. She said Patrick Schwarzenegger is “a little less” concerned about privacy. He will marry fiancée Abby Champion this year.

They also discussed the couple’s foam party, which took place on the Amazon billionaire’s $500 million yacht named Koru.

“I think it’s not the first marriage, but I love that they’re in love. I love love. And I love the idea of ‘let’s just go for it, let’s get married.’ They had a big foam party. I saw in the news,” Maria said. “I was speaking to my son about that and he said, ‘Yeah, that looked like a lot of fun.’ I said, ‘Would you like to see me at a foam party?’ He said, ‘No, I would not. I would not like to see you or any of your friends at a foam party.’”

“I said to you the other day, ‘I’m open to everything,’ but I don’t know if I’m free enough to be at a foam party. I’d have to challenge myself,” she added.

Jenna pointed out that “most foam parties aren’t in the open ocean with paparazzi and such,” and that they might be “comfortable” enough to attend one if it was in a more “private” setting.

“I don’t know if I’d have the guts to put on a bikini and be at a foam party,” Maria responded.
