Rachel Zegler is currently starring in a new revival of the musical Evita on London’s West End and we just learned that Broadway audiences will be waiting a long time to see the production.
Evita is being directed by Jamie Lloyd, who recently brought his West End production of Sunset Blvd to Broadway, winning Tony Awards for himself and star Nicole Scherzinger.
With Evita in previews right now, the show is already receiving rave reviews and Rachel is especially getting incredible buzz for her performance. The musical was written by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, who both have major projects heading to Broadway in the next year. Jamie also has several projects in the works.
Lloyd Webber is reportedly going to be focused on his upcoming production of Cats: The Jellicle Ball, which got raves in its Off-Broadway run last year. Rice is focused on the revival of his Broadway show Chess, which will star Lea Michele.
Deadline also reports that Rachel is in talks to star in a possible Broadway revival of The Sound of Music.
The outlet says the Broadway transfer will wait until 2027, but producer Michael Harrison is not looking that far ahead right now.
“Let’s get to opening night,” he told Deadline. “We’re still in previews working on the show day and night and yesterday we had a matinee, so let us get on with it. Then we’ll consider the possibilities of Broadway. And you’ve got to consider aligning the availabilities.”
We already know about Rachel‘s next movie project!
