It’s official – Denzel Washington has joined the cast of Black Panther 3!
Back in November 2024, the 70-year-old two-time Oscar winner teased that director Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in the third installment of the Marvel movie franchise.
While appearing on the new episode of Carmelo Anthony’s 7 p.m. in Brooklyn podcast on June 5, Ryan, 39, officially confirmed that Denzel will be appearing in Black Panther 3.

Ryan went on to say that he’s writing a very specific role for Denzel, cheekily adding, “There’s no fiction out there about that.”
“Denzel is family at this point,” he continued. “I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor. In terms of what he means to our culture? Forget about it, man.”
Last year, Denzel said that appearing in a Black Panther movie is on his acting bucket list before he retires.
A producer for Black Panther 3 recently addressed speculation that T’Challa will be recast in the new movie.
