ITV have confirmed that Shila Iqbal has been fired from her role on Emmerdale as a result of historic racist tweets.
Shila Iqbal, 24, plays Aiesha Richards on the soap and was made a series regular at the start of March.
A spokesperson for Emmerdale said: “As a consequence of historic social media posts, Shila Iqbal has left her role as Aiesha Richards on Emmerdale.
