Halle Berry just publicly called out the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
The 59-year-old Oscar winner made an appearance at The New York Times DealBook Summit 2025 at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Wednesday (December 3) in New York City.
It was there that she called him out, and it all has to do with The Menopause Care Equity Act.
The bill was aimed at improving research, training, and access to quality health care for women experiencing menopause. Halle was an advocate of the legislation, using her platform and personal experience to rally public support and encourage lawmakers to take the issue seriously. Although the bill gained national attention, Newsom declined to support it.

At the event, Halle said (via Deadline), “Back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one but two years in a row. But that’s okay, because he’s not going to be governor forever.”
She then referenced the thought that he might be interested in running for President in 2028.
“And with the way he’s overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either,” she explained.
