Rian Johnson is addressing the future of his Knives Out franchise!
Ahead of the release of Wake Up Dead Man, which is the third installment in the franchise, the 51-year-old filmmaker is already planning ahead for future movies and revealed the Oscar-winning actress he hopes will star in a movie down the road.
Keep reading to find out more…“I feel like Meryl Streep would kill it,” Rian told Variety. “She was born to be in one of these movies; she’s hilarious.”
However, there’s one hurdle he needs to get over first: “I don’t know her at all,” Rian added with a laugh.
Fortunately, one of his Wake Up Dead Man stars does know the 76-year-old three-time Oscar winner. Kerry Washington, who starred alongside Meryl in 2020′s The Prom, said that she would be happy to vouch for him.
“You ask people about what it’s like to be in these movies, and everybody says it’s just a dream,” Kerry said. “So I would encourage her.”
The first Knives Out movie came out in 2019 while the sequel, Glass Onion, was released in 2022. Wake Up Dead Man is out in select theaters now and hits Netflix on December 12. Watch the trailer here!
