A new Luther movie is coming to Netflix!
Idris Elba will reprise his role as Detective John Luther in the film being directed by Jamie Payne, alongside returning stars Ruth Wilson and Dermot Crowley.
The movie will follow 2023′s Luther: The Fallen Sun, which is based on the hit BBC series.

Here’s a synopsis, per Variety: “In this chapter, Luther is secretly called back into service when a new wave of brutal, seemingly random murders hits London. But how can he save London when everyone on all sides seems to want him dead?”
“Neil has yet again, created a wonderfully dark tale to bring us all back together. It’s a true joy to be back on the streets of Lutherland with the supreme talents that are Idris Elba and Dermot Crowley,” the director said in a statement. “I am also thrilled to be reunited with the brilliant and dangerous Alice Morgan played by the extraordinarily talented Ruth Wilson. Fans new and old are in for a treat!”
The original series ran from 2010 to 2019.
Idris won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film as well as a four nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for the role. He also won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie at the SAG Awards in 2015.
In the series, John Luther is a brilliant homicide detective with a knack for getting inside the minds of murderers. Unfortunately, his unconventional methods and personal demons put him at odds with his team.
