Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace just announced that they’re expecting their first child and days earlier, he was opening up about the beginnings of their love story!
The 40-year-old actor was one of 18 actors who sailed on the 2025 Hallmark Christmas Cruise from November 7-10, kicking off the holiday season with 4,000 fans on a trip from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico and back.
During a panel hosted by JustJared.com, Kevin chatted about the differences between filming the series When Calls the Heart and his many movies for Hallmark. He also talked about meeting Kayla on set!

“You get to spend way more time with the character [on the series]. It takes about four months to film the series. We do 12 episodes and I’ve been playing Nathan for seven years now, so you just go deeper and deeper. They keep throwing us curveballs. And with a movie, you just get to bond with someone so amazingly for three to four weeks,” Kevin said. “Isn’t that insane that with all the movies you guys love so much, it takes three and a half weeks to shoot and they’re these memorable, giant movies. I just think that’s crazy!”
After a fan shouted to Kevin about meeting his wife on set, he talked about falling in love while shooting.
“And yeah, I met my beautiful while on the series and then we did two movies together. Kayla and I met on When Calls the Heart and it took me two years to convince her to go on a date with me. And it was COVID that brought us together. But they’ll never make that movie! We pitched it,” he joked.
One day after getting off the cruise, Kevin was on the red carpet with Kayla for the premiere of her new project!
