The trio of actors join previously announced Austin Abrams, who is set to lead the movie, which will be moving away from previous adaptations and will use brand new characters. THR reports it is “meant to be a love letter to the original Capcom video games.”

Zach Cherry, who has head a breakout role in Severance, is said to play a scientist at a hospital.

True Detective‘s Kali Reis will play an ex-military character who was originally written for a male actor, and Johnno Wilson, who has had a number of roles in projects like King Richard, Twisted Metal and Raven’s Home, is to play an unknown character.

Plot details on the upcoming Resident Evil are unknown, but the following phrases are being attributed: “hapless courier, mysterious package, mutated creatures, corporate conspiracy.”

Zach Cregger will direct, of course, and co-wrote the script alongside Shay Hatten.

Filming on the project is set to begin in a couple weeks in Prague, with a release date set for September 18, 2026.
