Rosie O’Donnell Speaks Out After Daughter Chelsea Is Sentenced to Prison

Rosie O’Donnell is addressing the latest update about her daughter Chelsea.

The 63-year-old comedian’s daughter was recently sentenced to serve prison time after violating her probation, according to Us Weekly.

Chelsea was hit the the sentencing last Wednesday (October 22) by a Wisconsin judge, with a statement from the treatment drug court saying she was in violation due to sexual assault allegations.

“The facts surrounding this request have been staffed with the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Team and have been deemed sufficient grounds to warrant termination from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program,” a statement reads, via Us Weekly.

The publication also reports that Chelsea has been in custody since September 9th prior to receiving the prison sentence.

Back in January, she was ordered to six years of probation following multiple arrests for drug possession and child neglect.

Following her prison sentence, Rosie has spoken out in reaction to the news.

“I have compassion for those struggling with addiction – chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her children. we continue to love and support her through these horrible times. prayers welcomed,” she told Us Weekly.

She also shared on her Instagram, “my child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life – i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed- #addiction awareness #love #family”

Rosie and Chelsea have had a strained relationship for years.

Back in 2015, Chelsea went missing and was found to be in New Jersey, and later to have moved to Wisconsin to live with her birth mother after turning 18 years old.

Months later, Rosie reacted to a tell-all interview that Chelsea gave after going missing.
