The new romantic drama Regretting You is now in theaters and moviegoers are going to be pleased to learn that young stars Mckenna Grace and Mason Thames are actually a couple in real life.
The rising actors play Clara Grant and Miller Adams in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s novel.
Regretting You follows Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) and her daughter Clara (Grace) as they explore what’s left behind after a devastating accident reveals a shocking betrayal and forces them to confront family secrets, redefine love, and rediscover each other.
Mason plays the “coolest guy” at school and Mckenna‘s character ends up falling in love with him.
So, what do we know about Mckenna and Mason‘s real-life relationship?

While you may have thought that the actors met on set, Mckenna has revealed that they’ve been friends for years and that helped them navigate their roles on screen.
“Mason was like my best friend for ages before shooting and he knows me so well, like inside and out. Mason probably knows me better than like anybody, so it was such a beautiful thing to get to do something that, you know, does require so much trust,” Mckenna told EW. “It’s a scary thing doing romantic things or more physical things or kissing on screen, you know, such a weird a job. So it was really lovely to get to do that with somebody who’s so professional and so talented, but also somebody that I trust and makes me feel very safe. So even if I met Mason the day of shooting, he just is very professional. There is nobody else I’d rather have done this with.”
Mason, 18, and Mckenna, 19, first sparked real-life dating rumors back in April when they participated in a TikTk trend where they shared a kiss.
In June, Mason addressed the speculation around their relationship, the viral TikTok video of them kissing and what it’s like working with her.
“I didn’t really know what to expect, but it was really funny. I had a lot of friends text me. It was hilarious,” he told Seventeen about the TikTok. “She was like, ‘This is a TikTok—do you wanna do it?’ And I was like ‘Yeah, let’s!’ And we posted it, and then…Jesus.”
On so many people speculating about their relationship, Mason shared, “It is strange. But I’ve always sort of been off the internet. I’ve always kind of kept everything to myself and been very personal. Having people speculate so much, especially having mutual friends texting me and asking…it’s wild. I’m still not used to it.”
When asked about how they’ve bonded off set, the actor said they hang out all the time.
“Not too long ago, we went to the aquarium and just walked around. She has an aquarium playlist in her AirPods. So she had one in her ear, and I had one in mine while we looked at sharks.”
“She is such an incredible actress. It’s insane to watch her,” Mason gushed about McKenna. “She is one of the most driven people I’ve ever met in my life. Every day I’m on set with her, I just want to be as good as Mckenna. She’s such a sweet person, and getting to do this movie with her is so cool.”
“Honestly, Mckenna is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. She’ll just says some stuff, and it catches me so off guard,” he added.
Around the same time that this interview was released, Mason and Mckenna were photographed holding hands in public for the first time.
The young stars have also been leaving plenty of cute comments on each other’s Instagram posts!
During the Regretting You press tour, Mason and Mckenna walked the red carpet together so many times and we have all the photos!
