How scary is Shelby Oaks?
Shelby Oaks is rated R for violent content/gore, suicide, and language.
This is not a movie for the faint of heart. It opens with a graphic suicide (though mostly off-screen) and doesn’t really let up from there, featuring terrifying subject matter including demonic possession, satanic rituals, attempted infanticide, incubi, and more.
While there is no sexual assault shown on-screen, it is a significant aspect of the film’s storyline. Without going into spoilers, it’s heavily implied, and there are some disturbing photos shown.
