Drake Files to Appeal Court Ruling Dismissing Defamation Lawsuit Against UMG Over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’

Drake isn’t done in court.

The 39-year-old rapper appealed the court ruling which dismissed his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), sparked by Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

On Wednesday (October 29), he filed the appeal to attempt to reverse the ruling that Drake couldn’t sue Kendrick over the lyrics, which included the allegation that he is a “certified pedophile.”

Billboard notes that it could take “well over a year” for the appeals court to rule on the matter.

“This confirms our intent to appeal, and we look forward to the Court of Appeals reviewing that filing in the coming weeks,” a rep told the outlet.
