“Didn’t wake up, dead or in jail / Some out of town boys been given a cell / I’ve got some bad news, woke up missing you / My friends are all degenerates but they’re all I got,” the “Pink Skies” musician sings. “The generational story of dropping the plot / I heard the cops came, cocky motherf–kers ain’t they? / And ICE is gonna come bust down your door / Try to build a house, no bills no more, well I got a telephone / Kids are all scared and all alone.”

The song also references Bruce Springsteen, someone Zach has been vocal about looking up to, and who has also been outspoken against the current administration.

“The Boss stopped bumping, the rock stopped rolling / The middle fingers rising and it won’t stop showing / Got some bad news / The fading of the red, white and blue,” he sings in the ballad.

Big & Rich‘s John Rich called out Zach on Twitter/X, writing, “Who’s ready for the Zach Bryan-Dixie Chicks tour? Prob a huge Bud Light sponsorship for this one.”

In addition, many fans have slammed him for “alienating” half of his base, while others praised him for speaking out, after he previously suggested his music is not political.

If you didn’t know, Zach has been outspoken about the police in the past, and he’s also a Navy veteran, who was also born on a US military base in Japan.

Zach‘s song teaser comes after he just recently wrapped up his 2025 concerts following a record-breaking audience in Michigan.
