Josh Gad has an update on an upcoming project.
The 44-year-old actor is set to direct a biopic about late Saturday Night Live legend Chris Farley.
It was previously announced that Paul Walter Hauser would be playing Chris in the movie. Updates on the film’s progress have been sparse, but Josh says that it’s still on the way!

“We’re trying to rein in the budget a little, and the plan is still to shoot early next year,” Josh told Entertainment Weekly while promoting Adulthood at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
At 38, Paul is already older than Chris was at the time of his passing. He previously said he hopes to start filming soon so he doesn’t get too old for the role, which Josh agrees with.
“I, too, don’t want Paul to get too much older,” Josh told EW.
Josh said that the project is “ambitious as hell” but that he has faith they’ll start filming soon.
“I’m in the midst of going through the script right now with the studio, who’s been incredibly supportive about finding those things that can reduce it to a greenlight-able budget because, right now, it’s a period piece, it’s a biopic, it’s just super big, and we’re just working towards doing this to it, and I think we’re getting there,” Josh said.
Saturday Night Live has recently had a major cast shakeup.
