Country music singer-songwriter Brett James tragically died in a plane crash this week and now we’ve learned that his wife and stepdaughter were also victims.

The Grammy-winning songwriter passed away on Thursday (September 18) in a small-engine plane crash. It was originally reported that three people were onboard the plane and that all of them died. Now the other passengers have been identified.

Brett‘s wife Melody Carole and his stepdaughter Meryl Maxwell Wilson also died in the crash, according to The New York Times. Authorities say that they all died at the scene of the crash.

The plane was reportedly registered to Brett Cornelius, which is Brett‘s full legal name.

NY Times reports that the plane took off from Nashville and flew for just over an hour and crashed just outside the runway of Macon County Airport in Franklin, North Carolina.

Brett won his Grammy Award for writing Carrie Underwood‘s hit song “Jesus Take The Wheel” and she has reacted to his shocking death.
