Cardi B is holding off on performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show…for now.

“I got asked to do the Super Bowl and I denied it,” Cardi said. “I feel like soon, if I get to do it, I’m going to have more hits. I’m going to be more experienced and I’m going to eat that up.”
Cardi – who previously turned down performing at the 2019 Super Bowl to “stand behind” quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his activism – went on to say that she’s takes making music very serious.
“I do my job well and I take my time with my music—clearly you can see that,” Cardi explained. “So many [rappers] come and go, and I’m still here. You can downplay my accent, but I put a lot of thought into my work. I don’t half-ass anything I do.”
That’s why it’s taken her more than seven years to release Am I The Drama? following the release of her debut album Invasion of Privacy back in 2018.
“I always knew that I was going to drop a second album, I just didn’t have a project well put together,” Cardi explained. “Success for me will be people saying, ‘She put out a great album.’”
She continued, “If [at] 3 a.m. people are talking about the album, that’s going to be success for me because people can’t wait to downplay it. I even want the people who don’t like me to be like, ‘Yo. That s–t is fire.’”
If you missed it, Cardi just recently had a major win in court.
Cardi B will be releasing Am I The Drama? on September 19.
