Aziz Ansari is sharing the reasons that he doesn’t keep up with technology.
The 45-year-old comedian and filmmaker recently spoke to People about his decision to get a flip phone, ditch his email address, and not use social media.
According to Aziz, he’s taken his dedication to retro technology to a serious level and he says it’s for the best.

“I have a flip phone. I block pretty much every website from my computer. I don’t have an email address… I have a landline. I love the landline!” Aziz said, sharing all the ways that he’s dedicated himself to using older technology instead of having a smartphone.
The actor went on to share how long it’s been since he kept up with modern technology. He told the publication, “I stopped using email during season one of Master of None, so that’s like almost 10 years.”
He went on to share that he’s aware that being able to be so separated from modern technology is a “privilege.” On how he’s able to function in Hollywood without checking his email or using a smartphone, Aziz said, “I have an assistant and all these things that help take care of things and manage things.”
He went on to say that he lets his assistant handle everything from his email to his Instagram account because that kind of thing is “not what [he’s] good at.”
Aziz continued, “What I’m good at is sitting there writing a script or something. That’s where I want to put my energy. Or to watching movies or reading. That’s the better use of my head space for me.”
