Taylor Swift just revealed the track list for her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl, and one song title has fans speculating about Blake Lively.
On Wednesday (August 13), the 35-year-old pop superstar announced her 12-track album, which drops October 3.
While titles like “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Elizabeth Taylor” caught attention, track 6, “Ruin the Friendship,” is already sparking theories among Swifties about a possible connection to her longtime friend.

Blake and Taylor’s friendship has been under public scrutiny amid Blake’s ongoing legal battle with her It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Blake first filed a complaint in December 2024 against Justin, producer Jamey Heath, their production company Wayfarer Studios, and others, alleging sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign, which they have denied.
Taylor’s name surfaced earlier this year when Justin’s legal team alleged she pressured him to accept Blake’s rewrites on the film.
Though a subpoena for Taylor’s communications was later withdrawn, court documents show Justin’s team continued to seek access to messages between her and Blake. In June, a judge denied Blake’s motion to block those communications from being shared.
After Taylor’s album announcement, some fans on X speculated that “Ruin the Friendship,” and possibly track 10, “CANCELLED!”, could be about Blake.
Brazilian TV host Didi Effe posted, “I am CER-TAIN that Ruin The Friendship on Taylor Swift’s new album is about Blake Lively.” Billy Bush also weighed in on his podcast, suggesting Taylor might “shade” Blake on the album.
Back in April, a source told People that Taylor “was really hurt” by being pulled into the legal drama. In May, sources said the pair were taking space but hadn’t ended their friendship. By June, insiders claimed they were working to be “on good terms,” though their bond “isn’t the same as it was before.”
The Life of a Showgirl is out October 3. Find out which other song has fans speculating!
