Nicki Minaj just discovered Lana Del Rey‘s music and she’s a new fan!
The 42-year-old rapper took to Twitter on Friday (August 15) to comment on her newfound appreciation of Lana, 40, amid the singer’s feud with Ethel Cain.
The feud took the internet by storm this week after Lana posted a snippet of an unreleased track from her upcoming album. The opening lyric from the song, rumored to be titled “All About Ethel,” immediately caught fans’ attention: “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Thinks it’s cute reenacting my Chicago pose.”
Nicki can’t get the song out of her head and she called Lana “brilliant” in an X Spaces chat.
And Nicki‘s also commenting on how Lana dissed her and other pop stars back in 2020.

Nicki tweeted, “I’ve been singing ‘Ethel cain hated my instagram post’ all morning. Help!!!!! And something about the Waffle House & a picture w/some boy? But how can a melody & instruments & background vocals & the mixing be so good that I’m walking around all day talking about a person named Ethel who I do not know hating an instagram post I never even posted? HELP MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!”
She added, “I’m sure Ethel is a nice person. *hums the melody again & drifts off into this somber state whilst looking off into the horizon’.”

Nicki also tweeted, “Like. 😩 Now I see how ppl can discover an artist years & years into their career then go back & listen to their entire discography & become a die hard fan. I always hear my label & new fans of all diff artists talking about that but now I RLLY get it.”
Nicki also addressed Lana‘s “Question for the culture” letter in 2020.
Lana wrote at the time, “Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f——, cheating, etc — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever I want — without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse?… I am fed up with female writers and alt singers saying that I glamorize abuse when in reality I’m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world.”
Nicki is laughing off that letter.
