Jay Cutler is speaking out in response to ex-wife Kristin Cavallari‘s claims that she didn’t get any money from him in their divorce.
Kristin and Jay, who share three children together, announced their split in 2020 and their divorce was finalized two years later.
While Kristin is best known for her work on reality TV shows like The Hills, Jay is a former NFL player who earned about $127.9 million during his football career.
In a recent episode of her podcast, Kristin claimed, “I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband… I didn’t get any money from our divorce, so let’s just clear that up. Thank you.”
Those comments didn’t sit well with Jay, who is now responding.

“Let’s think about this logically. ‘Not a penny.’ OK. Married for, I don’t know, seven years or so, three kids,” Jay said while appearing on his Take It Outside podcast.
“You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It’s online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years,” Jay said. “So, you go to divorce and each side gets a lawyer and then you go to court and there’s a judge.”
Jay says that no judge in Tennessee would allow him to “keep every single dollar” that he earned during the marriage. He also confirmed that Kristin‘s company Uncommon James was a “marital asset.”
“It’s irresponsible. I think it’s reckless. I think it’s borderline slander to insinuate that there was zero dollars split during the marriage that each side got,” Jay said (via Page Six). “It’s insanity. It’s completely false, completely untrue. It is, it just is. I’ve got a divorce decree. I’ve got something that’s signed by the judge — it’s like, 67 pages — it says the number breakdown.”
Jay wouldn’t confirm how much money Kristin got from the settlement, but said it was “definitely not zero.” He also says that she received “enough” money to live comfortably for the rest of her life.
Kristin recently detailed her past hookup with an A-List actor.
