Jamie Lynn Spears’ Daughter Maddie Breaks Silence on ATV Accident That Nearly Killed Her

Jamie Lynn Spears is showing her support for her daughter Maddie after the teenager publicly spoke about the ATV accident that nearly claimed her life.

On Tuesday (August 12), the 17-year-old posted a video to her YouTube channel where she reflected on injuries she’s sustained over the years.

For the first time, she addressed the 2017 accident that occurred when she was just 8 years old.

“I did have an accident though. I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed,” Maddie said.

“So yeah, I’ve just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing and they did not do anything to me.”

The following day, Jamie Lynn reshared the video to Instagram, praising her daughter for opening up about the “not so fun” parts of her life.

“What was supposed to be a fun way to document her senior year on @youtube has now turned into a way for her to share the not so fun parts of life too,” she wrote.

“You can’t control everything that happens to you, but you can decide how you react… I’m so proud of this kid, she never lets anything or anyone sit her down, and sharing her journey through it all hopefully inspires others to never stop going hard for what they want out of life.”

Jamie Lynn shares Maddie with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge.

She is also mom to daughter Ivey, 7, with husband Jamie Watson.

The Sweet Magnolias star has spoken about the accident in the past, including during a November 2023 appearance on the U.K. reality series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

She recalled the terrifying moment, sharing that Maddie was trapped under a side-by-side vehicle in the pond on their property, and that she, her husband, and her in-laws all jumped in to try to save her.

“My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, me and my husband, we run to jump in to save her and you kind of — in that moment you think, ‘This is not real. She’s going to pop up, this isn’t real,’ ” she added. “I could feel her arm, and I’m jerking it, I couldn’t get her up because it’s a pretty heavy machine. In that moment you think, you know logically she’s been underwater too long.”

In February 2024, Jamie Lynn marked the seventh anniversary of the incident, calling it their “#MIRACLEANNIVERSARY” and thanking the medical team and everyone who prayed for Maddie.
