Elijah Wood is opening up about his experience with filming the “Threw It On the Ground” digital short with The Lonely Island, and how it unexpectedly came together.
In the skit, a beatnik (Samberg) does slam poetry about “fighting the system” by throwing things on the ground, smashing various items until he flips a dinner table with Ryan and Elijah, who end up chasing and tasing him.
During a Reddit “AMA” (Ask Me Anything) session on Thursday (August 28), the 44-year-old Lord of the Rings alum addressed a fan question about a recent episode of the Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, in which they discussed the beloved 2009 digital short.
“Did you just get a call like ‘Hey want to tase Andy Samberg‘s b–thole over and over?’” the commenter inquired.

“Aww, I heard a bit of the podcast the other day and it absolutely warmed my heart! That was such a fun short to be a part of and I was/am a huge fan of the Digital Shorts they made for SNL so I was so stoked to be asked to participate,” he began, in response to a commenter asking about the sketch.
As for how he got involved, Elijah revealed: “The way I remember it coming together was that my publicist at the time heard they were looking for someone and knew that I loved SNL and the Lonely Island and maybe she put my hat in the ring? The details are a bit fuzzy but I was in NY and it all came together quickly, as those shorts were shot and edited during the lead up to each Saturday’s episode,” he continued.
“So, yeah, I think my publicist called me and asked if I’d be interested to which I enthusiastically leapt at the chance…I remember the filming to be fun and hilarious.”
The commenter also asked Elijah about the “utter delight on your face” when Andy is being tased over and over.
“Andy is a lovely human, as is Ryan and yeah, we tased the s–t out of Andy’s b–thole,” he hilariously wrote.
“The legacy of what they created at SNL is just legendary; such an extraordinary body of brilliant, funny shorts that have no doubt inspired countless people to make and create. It was an honor to have been a part of one of them!”
