A coroner on Montana has confirmed Brandon Blackstock‘s cause of death.
If you did not see the news, Kelly Clarkson‘s ex husband passed away at the age of 48 last week, and at the time, his family revealed he had been quietly battling cancer for the last three years.
Now, the coroner has confirmed the type of cancer he had.

“Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family,” Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis confirmed to People, adding that his official cause of death was melanoma skin cancer and it was listed as “natural causes.”
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” a rep for the family said at the time of his death.
For those who don’t know, Brandon shared daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth, 19, with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth. He also shared daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remy, 9, with Kelly.
