In a new interview on The Awardist podcast, the 21-year-old actor, who stars as Ellie on the HBO series based on the hit game show, fired back at all the haters that criticize the show.

Season two of The Last of Us faced a lot of backlash when lead character Joel (Pedro Pascal) was brutally murdered by new antagonist Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and the portrayal of the same-sex relationship between Ellie and Dina (Isabela Merced).

When asked about the “louder critics” of season two, Bella said that they “tried to steer clear as much as I could.”

“People are of course entitled to their opinions,” the Emmy nominee continued. “But it doesn’t affect the show, it doesn’t affect how the show continues or anything in any way. They’re very separate things to me. So no, I just don’t really engage.”

Bella then told the haters that they don’t have to tune in to watch the upcoming third season.

“You don’t have to watch it. If you hate it that much, the game exists,” Bella noted. “You can just play the game again. If you do want to watch it, hope you enjoy it.”

If you missed it, a major plot point for season three was recently revealed.
