The 35-year-old writer and nephew of John F. Kennedy Jr. has previously shared that his family wasn’t consulted about American Love Story, an upcoming series about his uncle’s relationship with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

When Ryan appeared on the This is Gavin Newsom podcast on Sunday (July 20), the TV producer responded to Jack‘s criticism for the show.

“I thought it was an odd choice to be mad about your relative that you really don’t remember,” Ryan said. A screenshot of this quote was then shared to Jack‘s Instagram account.

In the post, Jack tagged Ryan and told him to “say it to [his] face” with a caption detailing his memories of his late uncle.

“My earliest memories are of John calling me Jackolatern and ‘the nudist,’ picking me up from school, his Pontiac convertible. I remember being the ring bearer at his wedding and the day he died. I remember Wyclef [Jean] singing at his funeral,” Jack writes in the caption. He went on to say other memories of his uncle have been passed down to him through family stories.

“You’re making millions off John, making a public spectacle of it but won’t contribute any of your riches to the causes he championed, or the legacy of public service he represented,” Jack continued, directly critiquing Ryan‘s decision to make the show.

Jack ended the caption by calling out Paul Kelly, the actor playing his uncle. He writes, “Also odd that the actor playing the sexiest man alive is bloated !”

If you missed it, Ryan has defended the ongoing criticism against the show multiple times.
