House of the Dragon is currently filming season number 3 for HBO Max, and fans are desperate for any updates about the production timeline, including when the series could finally debut.
Well, we’re taking a look at some clues and trying to figure it out!

Showrunner Ryan Condal previously confirmed on “The Stuff Dreams are Made Of” podcast, “2025 is gonna be utter madness from January…until deep in the fall when we wrap production. We do [have a start date for production], I don’t want to say it because it’ll be a thing, but it’s first quarter 2025.”
HBO officially confirmed to Just Jared that production began on season 3 in March of 2025! And according to Ryan, they will be filming into the fall.
This is a very similar filming schedule to season 2, which is said to have filmed from around April 2023-September 2023. This is about five months of time. Season 2 debuted on June 16, 2024. This is about 9 months after filming ended.
Ryan‘s quote about season three production going “deep in the fall” leads us to believe season three might wrap a bit later than season 2′s September timeline. So if it takes anywhere from 6-8 months to film, we could be looking at an October/November 2025 wrap date.
If we add the same 9 months of post-production, that would lead us to July/August 2026 for a release date for season three.
This is in no way official, and just an educated guess based on what happened with season two.
We can only hope they speed things along just a little without sacrificing any quality. Stay tuned as we learn more!
