Carrie revealed that while filming the Elsbeth season 2 finale, she received test results for a mole on her cheek. The results came back positive for basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer. She revealed that while filming the finale, Carrie‘s co-stars were asking what she planned to do after filming wrapped.

“I was like, “Oh my God, what am I doing on my hiatus? I’m going to have to get it removed,’” Carrie said of the skin cancer.

Carrie said that the sparkling accessory on her cheek was to cover the scar from her successful skin cancer surgery.

She told Busy, “Right now I have a scar that’s healing under here. So, I have to wear these silicone scar strips,” she said of her glittering cheek. So, I was like, if I’m going to wear something on my face, I’m going to make it fashion.”
